In this Module you displayed your collected data to help inform the decision making process. Why is this important for educational programs to use this type of approach?
It is important to collect data to inform decision making when it comes to technological education programs and applications. Analyzing the input, output, satisfaction and process issues allows all the stakeholders to see a clearer picture of how all the programs and application play a role in the function of the school and ultimately the success of the business. If a program seems to be working, it can be tested by actually having information analysis in a chart form to clearly see the pros and cons and how it compares to other programs. Having a chart also allows for open dialog when it comes to budget, what can stay and what should not be used the following year. A chart gives hard evidence, even though the administration team and technological team should informally check in on the programs/applications.
How has it helped you to understand and possibly lead an organization that might face these important decisions?
Having a clear and precise chart that outlines the program or application can lead to open conversations about the success of the business with or without the program. Businesses/schools must keep in mind their stakeholders, the culture of the environment and the longevity of their company. It would be unprofessional to make decisions based on little to no evidence. As a leader, you must build a case and this chart is a way to build evidence. Additionally, it demonstrates a critical thinking process, which is essential to have when you are a leader and making decisions with a team.
