- What are your 7 Survival Skills (from Wager, you, or a mash-up of the two)
I believe that the Se7en Survival Skills that I live by are the ones that Wagner suggest:
- Critical Thinking
- Collaboration
- Adaptability
- Initiative
- Communication
- Analyzation of Information
- Imagination
- Define your skills as you understand them:
These skills are what will keep me going as a professional. As technology changes and the educational system changes, I need to be ready with these survival skills. By thinking critically, I am getting ready for what is coming up next. This can be new ways to teach a lesson or plan a cross-content unit with the biology teacher. This leads into the next one; collaboration. I will be using my staff and teachers to discuss and prepare for new ways to tackle old problems. Old problems...new problems...challenges and changes. I need to be able to adapt to the new things that are coming my way in this wonderful profession. Also, I need to be able to act, not stand around and wait. I must take the initiative to learn new things and take chances. In order to take chances, I am going to be need to work with others and communicate clearly my goals. However, I need to be able to communicate and add to the conversations, so I must be able to analyze information. I need to read data and assess the best next steps. Lastly, I need to be grounded in creativity and imagination. Thinking outside the box and creating new solutions. It is a cycle that will keep me up "alive" in this great teaching profession. - Discuss what incorporating these skills into your classroom would look like:
Not only will I live by these survival skills, but my students will see me modeling them and they in turn will practice these skills as well. Students are consistently ask to collaborate and talk with their peers. Projects encourage them initiate problem solving and critical thinking. - What can you commit to for this year?

I need to adapt and learn to incorporate technology in my lessons and professional life. - How will you measure success?
